In the early 1800s, Garifuna moved from Belize into what is now Guatemala and set up the town of Livingston. The Garifuna have been relegated to the side streets, the edges of town. They live along the shore. Of the population, which is about 26,000, only 5,000 are Garifuna but the Garifuna culture is heavily practiced here!
